Here and Now
What does it mean? How do you achieve it?
Series of 4 sessions
The alarm clock wakes us so we can get to work on time. We go to school so that one day we can secure a good job. We save money so that, after many years, we can retire without financial worries.
Almost everything we think, say, or do is connected to the past or the future. It’s no surprise, then, that throughout most of our lives, we are not present in the moment but rather caught up in the past or the future.
We are not present in our own lives. Think about this for a moment!
We’ve lost the ability to truly be in the moment. Instead, we constantly dwell in the past (memories) or the future (desires). Our capacity for awareness is neglected, underutilized, and rendered superficial. Time and again, we find ourselves in similar situations, repeating the same patterns of reaction.
The roots of our awareness are anchored in our thoughts, memories, and desires rather than in the present moment.
-
We remember our lives instead of living them.
-
We wish for a certain life in the future instead of experiencing our true life.
Think of a baby who has just learned to take their first steps. The baby falls, and while lying on the ground, notices something interesting—a crumb, a piece of paper, or a dead fly. They immediately focus entirely on what they see. Getting up is no longer the goal—that’s for the future. Staying on the ground is irrelevant—that was the past. The baby reacts only to the present, to what is right now. The baby lives in the here and now, experiencing complete presence in the moment.
During the sessions, you will practice, learn, and, most importantly, experience the following skills:
-
Gaining insight into the techniques you use to avoid being present in your own life.
-
Focusing on the moment and within the moment.
-
Detaching from habits that keep you disconnected from the present.
-
Learning to act and make decisions in real-time.
-
Developing new habits that will anchor your presence in the now.
