Training Kundalini Awakening

Principles of the Kundalini Awakening Training
Every year, often in periodic waves for seemingly magical reasons, individuals emerge offering Kundalini awakening sessions or workshops. In the media, we see videos of “shiny happy people” enthusiastically sharing their “life-changing experiences” from so-called Kundalini awakenings. However, the consequences for many participants in such sessions and workshops often remain hidden—though, unfortunately, not from me.

For years, I have regularly received emails from individuals who attended these so-called Kundalini awakening sessions, urgently seeking help and guidance. Common psychological symptoms include psychosis, anxiety, panic, despair, insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, constant tension, manic behavior, and depression. Additionally, physical symptoms such as muscle and bone pain, tightness or pressure in the chest, high blood pressure, headaches, tinnitus, dizziness, loss of balance, paresthesia (tingling and numbness), and in severe cases, even (internal) bleeding have been reported. These issues often result from misleading “Kundalini awakening sessions.”

In response, I have decided to offer a Kundalini Awakening Training for those genuinely interested in awakening their Kundalini energy. This training is conducted in a didactic, thoughtful, and methodical manner. Note: I specifically refer to Kundalini awakening, not Kundalini rising. This contrasts with many superficial and trendy workshops that promise a Kundalini rising experience without addressing the potential risks involved.

Maha Kundalini Tantra focuses on achieving “effortlessness” and being “mind-less.” Through the awakening of Kundalini energy across all chakras and the union of Shiva and Shakti energies within the human body, one can achieve this state of effortlessness and mindlessness through dedication and mindfulness.

The illusion of contradiction between the path and its ultimate goal is the best example of the Tantric way of life. “Never give up, and always let go” is the most challenging art to master. A natural, effortless way of living is the greatest fear of the mind, which fights for its survival. The Yoga mind battles against the Tantra heart. The Yoga mind refuses to be accepted by the Tantra heart. The illusion of separation fights against the endless ocean of unity. The part resists the whole.

The Kundalini Awakening Training embodies this same mind-paradox. It is a training designed to untrain or “detrain” you.

Maha Kundalini Tantra is a powerful, intense, and dynamic form of Tantra aimed at transforming duality into unity through various techniques. These techniques focus on awakening Kundalini energy with particular attention to the spine, endocrine system, and chakra system.

What is Kundalini Awakening?

Kundalini awakening refers to the activation of the Kundalini energy—described as a latent spiritual force coiled at the base of the spine. When awakened properly, this energy travels through the chakras, leading to spiritual growth, heightened awareness, and personal transformation.

Risks of Misguided Practices

The allure of immediate transformation often overshadows the potential risks. Misguided Kundalini awakening practices can lead to:

  • Psychological Symptoms: Anxiety, panic attacks, depression, manic behavior, and even psychosis.
  • Physical Symptoms: Headaches, chest pain, muscle and joint aches, dizziness, high blood pressure, tinnitus, and in extreme cases, internal injuries or bleeding.
  • Energetic Imbalances: Blockages in energy flow, causing discomfort and confusion rather than clarity and harmony.

Common Misconceptions

  • Quick Fixes: True Kundalini awakening is not a one-time event or a shortcut to enlightenment. It requires sustained practice, mindfulness, and preparation.
  • Overemphasis on Sensations: Genuine awakening involves subtle shifts in consciousness and energy, not just dramatic physical or emotional sensations.
  • Neglect of Preparation: Misleading sessions often bypass critical preparatory steps, such as grounding practices, chakra work, and breath control, which are essential for a safe experience.

How to Approach Kundalini Awakening Safely

  1. Seek an Experienced Guide: Choose a teacher or mentor with proven expertise in Kundalini practices and a deep understanding of its spiritual and physical implications.
  2. Start with Foundational Practices: Focus on basic yoga, meditation, and breathwork to prepare your body and mind for energy shifts.
  3. Progress Gradually: Awakening Kundalini energy should be a gradual and natural process. Avoid techniques that promise instant results.
  4. Listen to Your Body: Pay attention to your physical and emotional state. Stop practices if they cause significant discomfort or distress.
  5. Understand the Process: Learn about the stages of Kundalini awakening, including potential challenges, to approach it with awareness and respect.
